Your cultural outings for Valentine's Day... and more

For Valentine's Day 2020, how about thinking outside the box? We suggest you try something a little different and take your loved one to a museum! Amongst our selection, the Musée Rodin is undoubtedly the most romantic, but we bet that your partner will also enjoy the Striking Iron exhibition at the Musée Branly, or Claudia Andujar and the Yanomami Struggle at the Fondation Cartier.
This setting is particularly conducive to romance. After strolling hand in hand on the paths of the sculpture garden, you’ll be enchanted by The Three Shades and Danaïd in the elegant surroundings of the Hôtel Biron where Rodin lived between 1908 and 1911. A word to the wise… on the evening of February 14th, between 19:00 and 22:30, the museum team will have a little surprise for lovers; music, poetry and nibbles await you around the iconic sculpture The Kiss!
Striking Iron at the Quai Branly Museum
Until March 29th, the art of African blacksmiths is in the spotlight. It could be considered an unusual choice for Valentine's Day, but this exhibition’s aesthetic and spiritual impact will remain in your memories. Some 230 pieces produced between the 17th century and today are presented. Musical instruments, coins, weapons, ceremonial objects; all come from a tradition which has placed the blacksmith at the centre of community life in sub-Saharan Africa. At the Hotel Juliana we’re offering you a cultural package in partnership with the Musée du Quai Branly that is not to be missed!
Claudia Andujar and the plight of the Yanomami Indians
Until May 10th the Fondation Cartier is hosting a particularly original and engaging exhibition that the Brazilian photographer Claudia Andujar has dedicated to one of the most important Amerindian ethnic groups in the Amazon, the Yanomami. The approach is, of course, political but also artistic, and it’s in this respect that it touches us deeply. Claudia Andujar’s love for this indigenous people is an inspiration to us all.
